A gorgeous variety of Japanese maple, with neat upright habit. Large slightly glossy 5 lobed leaves of intensely deep wine-red colour turning vivid orange, yellow and scarlet tones in autumn. Deciduous.  Best in a sunny sheltered spot in any garden with good well drained soil.  Responds well to pruning and shaping in late winter.
